Pokemon Go Fest 2021 is set to take place worldwide as a virtual event in July: all details

Pokemon Go Fest is back for its 2021 edition, scheduled for July 17th and July 18th. Like last year’s event, this year’s festival will be held almost exclusively instead of a physical event due to an ongoing epidemic. Pokemon Go developer Nyandik describes the festival as a global event. “2021 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of Pokemon and the fifth anniversary of Pokemon Go,” Niantic announced. Last year marked the launch of the Pokemon Go Fest Global Challenge arena. So far, the company is tight-lipped about the specific events planned for this year’s festival.

Announcing the dates for Pokemon Go Fest 2021 via a blog post and via Twitter, Nyandik said this year’s event will return to “a two-day global event from July 17 to July 18, 2021”. According to the post, players from around the world at last year’s event worked together to complete various challenges, unlock rewards and defeat Team GO Rocket.

Earlier this year, Pokemon Go hosted a Holi party on March 28 at a sports event. In addition, the game introduced two new t-shirt items inspired by Holi for players around the world. It marked the first major India-specific sporting event of Pokemon Go. The company recently found employment in India, which indicates the possibility of increasing its presence in the country.

Recently, Pokemon Go developer Niantic shared a teaser image for its upcoming AR glasses. The exposure showed only part of the AR glasses, not how they functioned. The picture only shows the temples of the mirrors with a bar that bears the Nyandic logo in orange. The temples look thicker and have a smaller speaker grille. There is no confirmation yet about the introduction of AR glasses.
